Synopsis
Samantha "Sam" is a seventeen-year-old band geek with a severe case of Main Character Syndrome, convinced she can woo the popular boy with a cinematic speech. Brett "The Jet" Davis is the school's golden-retriever quarterback—handsome, kind, and tragically literal-minded—who completely misinterprets Sam's romantic overtures.
Under the dank, gum-encrusted bleachers of Lincoln High, Sam corners Brett for the romantic confession she has rehearsed for three years. But when she delivers a passionate, metaphorical speech about "taking the risk" and "claiming the impossible," Brett's dense optimism leads him to a horrifyingly wrong conclusion that leaves Sam alone and humiliated.
