The Anonymous Variable

Paired for the high-stakes Senior Capstone Project, Clara Lin is immediately relegated to "slide deck duty" by her partner, the insufferable genius Reid Sterling. While Reid dismisses her in the lab, he unknowingly seeks her help on an anonymous coding forum, becoming infatuated with her digital alter-ego, "Cipher." As Clara watches Reid struggle with a code she could easily fix, she must decide whether to let him fail or reveal that the "useless" assistant he ignores is the intellectual equal he's been searching for.
