The Cycle

**February 15th.**
The rain in Oakhaven was grey again. The static was back.
The door to the logistics firm opened, and a man walked in. He was tall, handsome, wearing a burgundy suit that looked too expensive for the office. His hair was slicked back, and his smile was blinding.
"Good morning!" Caleb boomed, striding past the beige cubicles.
He didn't look like the Caleb from before. He was vibrant. He smelled of copper and peaches.
He walked to the breakroom. In the corner, a new hire was making coffee. A young man with slumped shoulders and sad eyes. He looked invisible. He looked lonely.
Caleb walked over and placed a warm, heavy hand on the man's shoulder.
"Hello," Caleb said, his voice rich with a terrible hunger. "I'm Caleb. I couldn't help but notice... you look like a man who is waiting for something."
The new hire looked up, surprised to be seen. "I... I guess I am."
Caleb smiled, showing too many teeth. "I can help with that. I'm a life coach. And I think we're going to be best friends."
