Dante is a seventeen-year-old former street kid turned Royal Guard trainee, suffering from imposter syndrome as he protects the privileged Prince Alexei. Alexei is a brilliant but physically frail twelve-year-old who uses his sharp intellect to compensate for his size, often treating Dante more like a servant than a protector. On Christmas Eve, a blizzard traps Dante and Prince Alexei inside the high-tech Winter Palace in the Swiss Alps. When the security detail is neutralized by poisoned eggnog and mercenaries breach the perimeter, Dante must rely on his street smarts and Alexei's surprising tactical genius to survive the night.
